The Honest Valuation

An honest number beats an exciting one.

Existing identifiers earn millions and still hand you a fantasy figure — full retail, no grade, no source. CoinShelf ties every value to a grade, a sale type, and a date — and says "we don't know yet" when the data is thin.

How It Will Work

Four trays, one shelf.

Here's what we're building. Claims are plans, not promises — and the waitlist gets a vote on the order.

Identify · Assist

What we're building

Identify by photo or catalog

Multi-angle photo matching with variety hints, or search the catalog directly by denomination, year and mint. The ID path stays calm and unintimidating — built for the inherited coffee can as much as the album.

Log · Catalog

What we're building

Log grade, mint, year, notes

Record VF-20, MS-65, "details — cleaned" — whatever's true. Organize into sets and albums the way you already think about them. The log is free, unlimited, and yours to keep.

Value · History

What we're building

Transparent value history

Grade-aware, sale-type-aware figures charted over time — never a single source-less number.

MS-63 · dealer-buy illustrative — not live data
Want-List · Gaps

What we're building

Want-list with gap tracking

See exactly which dates and mints are missing from a set — the 1909-S VDB, the 1916-D — and export an insurance / appraisal PDF in one click when you need one.

Questions

Straight answers.

When does it launch? +
It's in active development. We're not promising a firm date — early access goes to the waitlist first, and we'd rather ship something honest than something fast.
What do I get for signing up? +
Founding members lock the launch rate, get early access ahead of general release, and a vote on what stays free versus what lands in Plus.
How do you value coins? +
Every figure is tied to a grade band, a sale type (retail, dealer-buy, or recent auction) and a date — never a single source-less number. When the data is thin, we say so plainly rather than inventing a price.
Do I need to grade my coins first? +
No. Log what you know — even a rough grade or "ungraded" — and you'll still get an honest value range. The more precise you are, the tighter the figure.
Is my collection data private? +
Your collection is yours. We're designing CoinShelf so your inventory stays private by default — no public sharing unless you choose it.
